Most of the posts on this blog are about our son, Jacob. Mainly because he is much more interesting than Max and me. This blog is also being made into a book of memories for our family. Enjoy this peek into our lives!

Baby Shower

A few weeks ago I co-hosted a baby shower for my friend who just had a baby girl. Unity Wisdom Rising Hughes. Her mom is from California. Nuff said. I wish I had gotten pictures of the shower decor that I made but we were running way behind. Guests were arriving and we were still decorating. We had it at my friend, Amanda's, house. It was a lot of fun. I decided to make her a cute baby dress out of a onesie. It cost me $2 for the onsie, $2 for the fabric and ribbon, and $1 for the shoes. Cute, eh? Makes me want to have a girl!
Sewing on knit fabric without a serger is difficult so don't pay attention to the puckering. Babies move a lot anyway so it will be hard to notice.

When I bought the shoes they had the price written in permenant marker on the bottom. I had to do something so I covered them with matching fabric. I think they turned out cute!

Playschool

Don't smile too hard, you might break something!
Jacob has really enjoyed playschool these last 2 weeks (So have I). Max commented that he is not as moody and demanding. We will see how long that lasts.

Look out, here comes trouble!! :)

When they first arrive the kids can play with toys, read books, play playdough, or color.

"Jacob, smile!"  "Huh?"

Ms Billie is the head teacher and she has been here for years. She knows many of my friends from church and their older children. She is a sweetheart!

Jacob loves Ms. Trina!! We had to have a talk about how he is at playschool to play with the other children, and not just Ms Trina. He was wearing her out! Today he told her that he couldn't play with her anymore. Awwww!!  She just loves him!

Part of his classroom.

The little boy in the white tanktop is Dillon and they love to be silly together. The little girl on the end is Noor and she loves to hug Jacob. Despite this attention he says he still wants to marry Amora.

Prairie

Jacob had decided that his favorite show is "Little House on the Prairie". He always asks to watch it and snuggles up to watch the whole thing. I have no idea what is so interesting to him but he does like that I watched it when I was a kid.

LSU Game

Max and I really enjoyed the game despite the non-competition it was. His boss James sent us his season tickets for this game. We had a great parking pass as well. Traffic was crazy but we got to plow through the campas and all the goings on. It was crazy-busy-nuts. Our seats were perfect and we were only about 40 feet from the field and about mid-field.

People around us seemed to be hard-core fans and some said that the crowd had no energy. Too bad, but it was because there was no competition. We still enjoyed it especially because we invited our friends, Jared and Amanda. We really enjoyed their company and hopefully will double-date with them again.
Shaq came for a cameo visit. He played for LSU and they errected a statue of him. He is the tall guy in the gold shirt between two poles.

It was a fun-filled evening and we are glad we had the chance to go!! Hopefully we can go again someday and take Jacob with us. He was able to stay home with Sari and he had his own fun time!

Out of the Blue

Tonight I was putting Jacob to bed and we were cuddling. He was quiet for a while and then out of the blue he says, "Nonna has good food for me at her house." After trying to figure out where his thought process came from I asked, "What kind of food?" "Chocolate milk." "What else?" "Fruit." "What other food?" "Ice cream." "Yes, Nonna does have good food at her house for you." He turned over and went to sleep. (When I told Max about this he started laughing and almost choked on and spit out his mouthwash!)

Sunday not-so-funday

I woke up this morning still pretty sick with a head cold. I did sound more awful than I felt but I decided it was best to stay home. After helping Jacob get ready and sending my guys off to church I tried to relax. A bit later Max called because Jacob was having a huge meltdown (despite our talk about reverence and making good choices) and had to have time out in the car. After he calmed down they went back into church. Now maybe I could rest. I checked FB and saw that my friend had posted that they cancelled church. I texted Max and he responded that they were in sitting sacrament mtg. Weird. Then he texted me later and said that due to the uncertainty of the weather they were cancelling the rest of church. Bummer. Jacob was looking forward to primary and Max had prepared to teach his lesson. Did I get rest? No, but I am feeling a lot more clear-headed and I think on my way to getting over this stuff.

Imagination

I had a board/shelf on top of a tub that I painted last night and was going to hang it today. When I was on the phone with Grandma, Jacob decided to go "wind surfing". He said, "Come on momma, watch me wind surf." Here is a picture of him wind surfing and using the BSU flag as his sail. What a creative kid! It was about 11am but he was wearing his PJs. He doesn't wear his PJs to bed but when I asked him to get his underwear on he came into my bathroom and threw down his underwear, socks and PJs and said "There you go, I will wear these." Of course, we changed later to go to the store.
