Most of the posts on this blog are about our son, Jacob. Mainly because he is much more interesting than Max and me. This blog is also being made into a book of memories for our family. Enjoy this peek into our lives!

New Job
I have been working at Jacob's school, Shenandoah, for a month now. I am a special education assistant in a self-contained classroom and I love it. After the school year started I put my application on file with the school district but I was very picky about where I wanted to work. I also continued to look for work elsewhere but nothing seemed right for me or our families schedule. I was basically looking for a little work so we could pay down our debt faster and eventually obtain a house. In February, a friend needed someone to watch her 2 year old, Trevor, for a few months. He is such a sweet child and I really enjoyed his company. Jacob stated that he feels like he is a bi brother when Trevor comes over. Awwww!! Even though his mom wanted me to be his primary sitter, when the job opened up at the elementary school I jumped at the chance. When I was interviewed I was asked why I wasn't teaching and the principal understood that I was not wanting a career at this time of my life. My dream job really is my current position. I get to be with the children, to teach them, and enjoy them but I don't have all the headache and stress of paperwork, lesson plans, and parent communication. I can go home to my family and enjoy my evenings and weekends. And Jacob and my schedules are basically the same. It is wonderful!! Just what we have been praying for! A job that doesn't take away from our current family life. When we told Jacob that I was going to be working at his school he was so excited. He kept calling me teacher. It was cute! It is also enjoyable to see him here and there at school and to get feedback from his teachers. We only have about a month and a half left of school and I'm a little bummed. But I am sure I will be there next school year too!
